I don't know if anyone else has seen this anime or read the manga...it is really excellent The story is very enthralling, and you really find it hard sometimes to distinguish the line between good and evil.
The story is pretty complicated but i'll give you the abridged version...
A young high school student, Light Yagami, tends to find life pretty boring, and often doesn't feel the need to over exert himself in school or life. One day while glaring out the window, he notices an object fall from the sky and land on the outside lawn. He inspects the fallen object, noticing the letters on the notebook "Death Note," the young man becomes interested.
He soon discovers this is no ordinary notebook. Inside the death note reads...Any human's name who is written in the notebook will die...Light becomes amazed when the notebook actually does hold up to its claims. After deciding to use the notebook to cleanse the world of criminals, Light sets out on his, as he sees it, virtuous journey.
A brilliant young detective is brought in to investigate the recent deaths among convicted felons. A thrilling game of cat and mouse soon ensues...but just who is right in this seeming battle of good and evil.
I suggest you check it out...definetly one of my favorite animes

I've seen the first movie, and most of the second. Forgot to finish it.. I've also seen all the epsidoes, the first half twice. xD
I love the anime. The plot, characters, suspense, everything is awesome. The first time it complete captures you, the second time you watch it you begin to notice things that spark interest. I admit, Light Yagami/Kira is my favorite character, for various reasons. However, I admit L is pretty awesome as well. If you don't know what I'm talking about.. go watch the anime. xD
The movies themselves are decent. I admit the acting isn't perfect, but I loved Death Note so it was bearable. In the end, if you want to see more Death Note, the movies are right around the corner.

I'm in the middle of reading the manga and watching the anime. I watched half of one of the movies but couldn't finish it because I thought it would spoil something for me.
