~Open to anyone that wants to join. Roku is on the outskirts of Kiri, so you don't have to be from Hidden Mist~
It was somewhere around four o'clock in the afternoon and the sun was high in the sky. Rokuro Ketsueki, a jounin from Hidden Mist, was walking through one of the forests outside the village with his hands in his pockets and his eyes to the sky above.
”Alright, I’ve gotten all my paperwork for my recent missions caught up and it doesn’t look like I’m going to be assigned another anytime soon. It’s time for a quick training session to keep in shape.”
Rokuro stopped walking once he reached a secluded lake on the edge of Kirigakure and smiled at the reflection he saw on the shimmering waters surface. He began to focus chakra to his feet and stepped out onto the water as if it were a solid surface and then started walking again to the center of the lake. A gentle, misty breeze rolled through the area and lifted some of the loose strands of his ebony hair momentarily, and then allowed them to drop back down almost to the center of his back. With a quick inhale, Rokuro closed his brown eyes tight and began to focus his chakra once again, water started to rise around his body swirl as he quickly ran through a chain of hand seals. Once he hit the end, Roku opened his eyes and exclaimed aloud.
”Mizu Bushin no Jutsu!”
The water swirling around him went on to form three doppelgangers of himself. Each of them looked exactly as he did from head to toe, and even carried a sword exactly the same as his. The Kiri shinobi took a moment to look at each of the bushin individually, and then addressed them all as whole.
”We’ll start whenever your ready.”
A nod of understanding came from each bushin, and then the battle was underway. Rokuro leapt back gracefully to put room between he and his water clones while two of the three charged forward at him, the last one hung behind and drew his sword. Roku quickly performed yet another string of hand seals and announced his jutsu as he brought a hand to his mouth.
”Katon! Housenka no Jutsu!”
Roku spat a volley of fireballs at his attackers, but they easily maneuvered around them with a series of leaps and twirls to the side. This opened up a lane for Rokuro in the middle, and so he proceeded to draw his own sword and charge forward. Once he reached his third bushin, the two engaged one another with rapid flurries of slashes and sword strikes. The other two water clones stood idle and watched the surrounding forests, just incase someone decided to pay them a visit.

A loud, but short, chuckle could be heard coming from nearby. Seemingly appearing out of the ground itself, Zaer walked out from the shade of a tree. "Interesting." Sitting down in the shade of the tree, Zaer began to watch the ninja train. An interesting choice of elements to train in, clashing chakra always put more strain on the user. With a wry smile, Zaer continued watching, his eyes darting back and forth as he watched the Kiragakure Shinobi continue training.

The sound of metal grinding against metal seemed to fill the area and drown out all other minor sounds as Roku and his water clone locked their swords intensely and began pushing against one another, each trying to overpower the other. Rokuro held his sword horizontally while his clone positioned his vertically, so the bushin was technically the one on the offensive. In a quick attempt to gain the upper hand, Rokuro span out of the deadlock to the right and used his free hand to grab the back of the clones garments and fling it towards a tree on the sidelines, causing it to reduce to nothing more then water droplets on the bark.
”What do you know, that was much easier then last time.”
Roku taunted as he grinned at one of his other clones, his smile seemed to scream out “Come and get me!”. It didn’t take long for the two to come at one another and exchange sword blows in the middle of the lake. The third clone, however, was the only one that seemed to notice a short burst of laughter in their vicinity. Naturally curious of the surroundings, the clone dissipated, or rather evaporated, into the air and out of sight. It reformed about an arms length away from their one man audience, to the right, and spoke out in a calm voice, sheathing its’ sword at the same time.
”I didn’t know I was that entertaining...”
The clone started off while crossing his arms and cocking his head to the side somewhat. I haven’t seen his face in Kiri before… The clone was at its maximum distance from Roku and wouldn’t be able to wander much farther away. If it tried, it would end up a puddle.
”...What’s up?”

Zaer's smile remained on his face as he noticed the Mizu Bunshin near him, "Well, not much really. Just enjoying some scenery and I guess some free entertainment. By the way, you are very entertaining." Zaer's smile slowly faded away as he turned his head slightly to the clone, showing some respect but still keeping the fight within his sight.
Zaer waited a few moments then continued to talk, "So, how about you? How are things with you then? Enjoying your training session?" Zaer began to watch the fight more intently, beginning to get really interested. Chuckling a bit more as the fight continued, Zaer fully turned his head to the clone. "Looks like fun." Hmm, he's not bad actually. Very interesting indeed. Kiragakure huh..

The clone waited to reply, allowing the sounds of swords colliding to momentarily take control.
“It’s a pain, to tell the truth. Right now I have to burn off some chakra…then the real fun starts.”
He wasn’t exactly sure what he was going to do after the warm up session was through, but he had a wide selection to choose from. Obstacle courses, good old fashioned push ups, close range taijutsu practice; all of it was acceptable. For the moment though, his only objective was to work up a good sweat and find out where his limit was…so he could pass it.
One last ring filled the air and then Roku pulled off a quick series of backflips in order to put room between his clone and himself, surprisingly his opponent did the exact same thing. Somewhere in the middle of their rotations, Rokuro and his bushin had sheathed their weapons. Now it was a race to see who could complete their jutsu first. Both ran rapidly through a chain of hand seals.
”Katon! Karyuu Endan!”
“Katon! Quokka!”
Both clone and original brought their right hand up to their mouths in order to better guide the flames spewing from their mouths towards one another. The clash of the intense flames caused a steady pillar of steam to rise from the lake surface. Since they were right outside Kirigakure, a light mist was already hovering over the ground. The steam seemed to merge with the mist though and made it much more dense then before. Inside the steam, only Rokuro stood. Although the jutsu(s) used were even in strength, one was more devastating in nature then the other. That made all the difference in the end, and now there was only one clone left.
The water clone threw Zaer a half smile, and then started a slow walk back towards the lake.
”It looks like I’m up now. Give me a second, and then we can talk in person.”
The mist settled a touch, and now Roku was visible standing on the water surface.

Zaer laughed a bit louder than usual as the clone died, "That was an interesting display of Katon Jutsu." Zaer made a mental note of the stranger's abilities within Suiton and Katon jutsus. As he got up, Zaer dusted himself off and glanced towards the person who was previously training. Zaer thought for a moment and then decided to call out towards him, "Hey, if you're all done how about we have a little spar, eh?" Smiling as he spoke, Zaer believed it would be very interesting to spar against someone new. The only way to get stronger is to keep pushing yourself, keep on experiencing more.

{It's all good.}
”Sounds good to me.”
Rokuro quickly responded without second thought or hesitation. His clone that had been speaking to Zaer earlier charged Roku, but he didn’t have any reason to play around with it now that he had a new opponent. In seconds flat, Rokuro had parried the attack on him with his sword and struck it through the chest, causing it to burst into water. As Roku began to walk toward Zaer, all his physical traits became more noticeable.
For one, it appeared as though they were the same age, but Roku was shorter and often mistaken as a seventeen year old. Roku had soft, pale skin that most longed to rub their hands against after time. His hair was as black as can be, and it was long enough to hang past his shoulders in a neat ponytail. This must have been what Orochimaru looked like during his ‘pure’ days in Konoha. His sword was sheathed and hung on his back and all of his ninja gear was secure in holsters on his black belt. His belt buckle was his Hidden Mist head band, and he wore all black garments that seemed to flow in the wind. A single glove was on his right hand.
A light layer of sweat gleamed in the sunlight on his forehead, but he quickly wiped it away with a strip of cloth he kept in a pocket. His dark brown eyes rested on Zaer, and once he was close enough, he stuck a hand out to shake. Of course, the hand was dry and sweatless.
”Ketsueki, Rokuro…”
Roku introduced himself in a voice tune slightly deeper then that of his Mizu Bushin’s. It was a habit of his, stating his name before battle and competition. Even when faced with the most dangerous of foes, Roku would take the time to give them his name…

Zaer looked at Rokuro as he approached him. Rokuro could now notice Zaer's outlandish clothes. Zaer's spiked hair, jeans, and shirt made him look like a commoner rather than ninja. He also seemed to carry a single sword which was tightly secure in its sheathe. As Rokuro came closer, Zaer threw his Akatsuki cloak off. Accepting the handshake, Zaer introduced himself as "Zaer Nightmare, former sand ninja and current leader of Akatsuki. Pleasure to meet you. A gentleman ninja, I respect that."
Smiling again, Zaer's pupils peered into Rokuro's eyes, sizing him up. His smile suddenly faded as he became more serious, "Are you ready to begin?" Zaer waited patiently, releasing Rokuro's hand after the handshake. A very interesting spar, that is for certain.

It was obvious that Rokuro knew nothing of the Akatsuki. In the past, Kirigakure has never been interested in its’ activities, if the village was even aware of the groups existence. The Hidden Mist Villages only tie to the group would be Hoshigaki Kisame, but his where abouts were unknown. As far as Roku knew, that man had died in the wilderness after fleeing from Kiri.
Rokuro nodded his head at Zaer.
”That’s quite a title…”
Those words echoed in his ears for a split second “Zaer Nightmare, former sand ninja and current leader of Akatsuki”. Obviously, if he was the leader of a faction he had to be exceptionally strong, but just how strong? Rokuro was beginning to become interested in this man. Then the question of if he was ready to begin came. Roku responded quickly and took a few steps back after the hand shake to give them both starting room.
”…I am.”
His dark brown eyes focused on Zaer’s weapon for a brief moment. Roku knew abit about swords himself, and the type of sword a man carried said a lot about them. Custom made. His pupils rose again to meet with those of Zaer’s. He wasn’t sure if he should wait for a go signal or not, so instead he gave the signal.
”Begin!”
A three second pause; one one-thousand, two one-thousand, three one-thousand, and then Rokuro reached back to the rear of his belt. Instead of going for his sword, the young jounin took a kunai into hand. His right index finger was inserted into the hole at the end of the stem and he twirled it on his finger while bringing it out in front of him, where Zaer could see it. Once it was in front of his chest, Roku held his kunai still in a reversed position, the blade pointing to the ground, and poised himself to spring into action at a moments notice.

"For fair warning to a fair adversary, my eyes will be your worst enemy in this spar." Zaer's one piece of advice before beginning. Disappearing into the shadow of the tree behind him, Zaer reappeared from another tree's shadow a couple of yards away. Being a major ninjutsu user, Zaer liked to refrain from unnecessary close-range combat.
Zaer's eyes began to spin rapidly as he raised his left hand out towards Rokuro, fingertips extended in his direction. Five dark bullets fired from Zaer's fingers and towards Rokuro, one from each finger. As soon as the jutsu was released, Zaer brought his right hand up in a fist, stopping at around the height his left hand was elevated. A black ring appeared on the ground around Rokuro. Suddenly, black flames erupted from the circle, aiming to cause panic in Rokuro but not hurt him past minor to medium ranged injuries.

His eyes are my worst enemy? That could mean anything, and Rokuro made sure to remember those words. At first, he thought he would be facing visual genjutsu, but after Zaer made his first two moves, Roku knew it was something more.
He‘d never seen jutsu like those before, and if he hadn‘t gotten ready for anything earlier, he would have been in serious jeopardy. As the bullets came tearing through the air at him, Roku slipped his finger out of the kunai hole and started quick chain of hand seals. He was fighting near his major element, so he was worried just yet. And that one jutsu he had in mind saved him from both attacks.
”Suiton! Suijinheki!
Rokuro opened his mouth wide and spat out a column of water that immediately began to swirl around his person to shield him from harm. Water from the lake also swirled around him, adding to his defense. He’s not a close range fighter, and he moves around in a way I’ve never seen before..[/color] A slight cloud of steam rose as fire came in contact with water and Rokuro used that time to leap out of his wall of water and advance in the general direction of Zaer, kunai in hand. He was heading the way the fire bullets had come from. He was forming a plan inside his head but he wasn’t exactly sure how good it would work just yet. First, he’d have to see how Zaer responded to him coming in close, then he could act from there. For now, he simply jogged in a zig zag pattern forwards, stopping every now and then to take cover behind this and that and keep from falling into a readable pattern.

Zaer began darting in a zigzag pattern towards Rokuro. He suddenly vanished as he stepped into the shadow of a tree, reappearing about seven yards behind Rokuro. Lifting both his hands up, Zaer's pupils began to spin again. Almost instantaneously, Rokuro's shadow sprouted up from the ground and grabbed him from behind. The shadow attempted to get Rokuro in a body lock, restraining him from moving.
As the shadow went to restrain Rokuro, Zaer began to unleash a fury of handseals. Using his unique handseals, Zaer released a mix of his dark and sand chakra. "Satetsu!" Zaer opened his mouth as the lethal iron sand poured out. Mixed with dark chakra, Zaer was able to control this iron sand with even more grace and less thought than the original skill. The iron sand flew into the sky, watching Rokuro like a predator that has just found its prey.

Rokuro reacted to the situation from instinct, having been attacked by Mizu Bushin from behind in the past. As soon as he felt arms coming around his shoulders with the intention of locking together, he darted forward towards the nearest tree. His shadow managed to secure a grip on him, chest to back. Focusing chakra to his feet, Roku began to run up the thick tree trunk and his shadow followed, so Roku pushed off the tree to flip out of its’ grasp. At one point during his rotation, Rokuro’s body was perpendicular to his shadow’s, and so he took that time to throw a sort of drop kick at the shadows head. He then caught himself in a hand stand and pulled off a sloppy cart wheel type maneuver back to his feet.
Rokuro then charged back towards Zaer once again, pulling his entire shuriken pouch off and tossing it into the air after opening it. All of his shuriken fell out, and he immediately started a string of hand seals.
”Ninpo! Soushuuha!”
Roku still wanted to waste all of his chakra, he had to if he wanted to benefit from his training and this spar. If this was an actual mission though, he would have taken one of his soldier provision pills and slipped it under his tongue, so he could swallow it whenever he needed it most. Rokuro held his hand out before him as he ran, and all of his shuriken floated in the air. There were about 25 and after Rokuro flicked his wrist they all began to hurl through Zaer with greater force then any human being could put behind them. Roku then started a second chain of hand seals.
”Kirigakure no Jutsu!”
Another cloud of mist and fog rolled in, so thick it was difficult to even make out what was right in front of you. As the shuriken continued to advance towards the Akatsuki leader, Rokuro strayed off to the side and camouflaged himself in the Mist.

"Vires adveho ex usus." Strength comes from experience.
Zaer smiled as he watched Rokuro destroy the shadow. After the shadow returned to its respective place, as Rokuro's shadow, Zaer noticed Rokuro initiating handseals. As the shurikens came after him, Zaer started stepping backwards, and after the Kiragakure activated he knew it was time to act.
Zaer's eyes began to spin once more, and abruptly stopped. Zaer decided to announce his skill as, "the Eye of Truth." Zaer was now able to see his opponent's chakra and blood flow upto 360 degrees and 10x his normal vision. Remembering that shurikens were hurtling after him, Zaer activated Satetsu Kaihou. The giant block of iron sand swung down, letting the shurikens lodge themselves into place. Zaer then broke Satetsu Kaihou, making the iron sand return to the air and carrying the shurikens with it.
Dark energy began to pull itself away from Zaer towards his left and right sides. The chakra began to take form and created two copies of himself. The Kuro-Sesshou bunshins then ran towards Rokuro, heading towards him in a pincer movement. As the ran, they began to unleash hand seals. In unison, they activated "Kazei-Kiri!" Five rapid firing crescent shaped wind chakra blasts headed towards Rokuro at an alarming pace. These blades were sharp enough to cut through Rokuro easily.
As the clones attacked, Zaer began unleashing handseals. He seamed to be doing two sets of handseals, one with each hand. The handseals were going slower than any normal jutsu, but in the end Zaer would be able to cast both jutsus at once. Suddenly Zaer finished and called out his jutsus. "Suishouha!" As he called that out, a giant column of water materializes which Zaer begins to feed dark chakra into. The column of water forms into a whirpool heading towards Rokuro. The dark chakra inside the water made it nearly impossible to be controlled by someone else. Zaer called out his second move now, "Suigadan!" Three columns of water shot out from the Suishouha, dark and water chakra all. They came from Rokuro's left, right, and in front of him. Suddenly spinning, they became drill-like and headed towards him at twice the space.
With the Kaze-Kiris, Suishouha, and Suigadans after Rokuro, the clones began to jump backwards. Getting cover within the trees, they awaited their next orders. As the clones jumped back, Zaer did as swell whiles maintaining control of the jutsus.

He could hear the whistling sounds clearly in both ears. Every ninja knew and recognized those sounds well. Something was tearing through the air and heading towards him at a rapid speed. It was perplexing, most ninja were shaken up by the Kirigaure no Jutsu, yet Zaer Nightmare kept his composure and attacked with aim that remained true. These unique jutsu and the ability to see through my mist. It must be a Kekkai Genkai, and a strong one at that.[/I] Now Rokuro knew why he was the leader of the Akatsuki.
He had to move quick, he didn’t have time to hesitate or think too hard about his movements. Roku leapt straight back and landed against another tree, then he leapt off of it, hit the ground, and rolled into a crouching stance. All of this to dodge Zaer’s wind blades, yet his movements were too rushed in the end. He hugged his shoulders with his hands and could feel blood on both of them. Looking at the palms of his hands, turned crimson with his own blood, only confirmed this.
”D**nit!”
The young jounin exclaimed as he once again leapt back to avoid harm, and then ascended into the tree tops with a high jump. For a moment, he rested on a wide branch and tried to slow his breathing, his athleticism and acrobatic nature would only get him so far. There’s no need to keep this mist around any longer. A strong enough katon technique could dispel the Hidden Mist jutsu. After he slowed his breathing and brushed some of his sweat away, Rokuro dropped down out of the trees and started up a familir jutsu, followed by another. He had moved back quite a bit, so Zaer’s clones weren't necessarily to his sides.
”Katon! Quokka! Suiton! Mizuame Nabara no Jutsu !”
The first attack, Quokka, spewed from Rokuro’s mouth in a wild and uncontrolled manner, he didn’t use his hands to direct what was already a destructive technique. Fire raced forward and ignited the trees and grass around Rokuro, making the forest a dangerous place to be if you weren’t behind him. When his next jutsu, Mizuame Nabara started, Roku spat his sticky substance towards Zaer’s iron sand. It was obvious he wanted to render it useless.
